WRITINGS Our first day in medical school the Dean addressed us. "You have a problem. Fifty percent of what we will teach you is wrong. Unfortunately, we do not know which fifty percent it is." He paused. "Have an interesting life." And sat. Most were stunned. I was elated. I knew deeply that it was true - and that my future was created that moment. I have spent my life in the attempt to separate what is true from what is not. Or, as a friend put it, "distinguishing the mushroom from the horseshit it grows in." My writing is a continuation of this quest.
