$100,000 Pledge Establishes Scholarship

Harvey Austin, M.D., along with his wife, Ellen, recently pledged $100,000 to the Albany Medical College to establish the Harvey W. Austin, M.D. '61 Endowed Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student with financial need who is visionary, hard working and demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit.

Upon receiving his degree, Dr. Austin performed a surgical internship and a surgical residency year at Albany Medical Center Hospital under Dr. Charles Eckert.

In 1978, he established the Austin-Weston Center for Cosmetic Surgery in McLean, Va. The Center is the first free-standing surgical facility in the Washington, D.C. area devoted exclusively to cosmetic surgery. Since its founding, it has grown to include four physicians and a staff of thirty-five, and is now located in Reston, Va. It is arguably the largest and most modern facility for cosmetic surgery in the world.
